From the Children &Youth Facilitator (Church Family Man) Robert Amor
JAFFAS (Wednesday 3:30 to 5:30pm) The month of November has seen the continuation of our trek back in time through the New Testament, as we follow Jesus on his travels to a number of towns as he taught and healed people. This month we have travelled to: Sea of Galilee: when Jesus and his disciples got caught in a sudden storm and we learnt that Jesus is always ready to help us know what to do when we’re afraid or worried and that he answers our prayers in ways that are best. Bethsaida: to learn how Jesus restored sight to a blind man and understand that Jesus shows love for us by giving us salvation and richly providing for our needs. Caesarea Philippi: to Peter’s first announcement that Jesus was the Christ and we learnt that while many people have different ideas about who Jesus is, God’s Word tells us to believe that Jesus is God’s son who came to provide forgiveness of sins. Jericho: to hear how Zacchaeus the tax man climbed a tree to see Jesus and we recognised that we can be glad of God’s commands because they help us know the best choices to make. These lessons were achieved with much fun and activity, through games craft and bible stories. Thank you to Luke, Margaret and Marion, for their help and support. GOD’S GANG (Sunday School) With thanks to the leaders and helpers who bring their initiative, enthusiasm and care, the “Seasons of the Spirit” curriculum continues to provide God’s Gang with a well set out Sunday school program that is always informative, fun and gets an important Christian message across to the children.
FAMILY SERVICE (First Sunday of the Month) Preparing a Family Service is one of the most exciting tasks that I have the pleasure of being involved in. It’s an opportunity to be creative and produce a service with a difference. To do something that may bring a new understanding to a bible reading by viewing the reading from a different angle, an angle that is somewhat shorter than ours, a child’s viewpoint. This month has seen the continued dedication of a small group of people who aim to provide a service that will engage both the young and not-so-young. I’d like to once again say “thank you” and give my encouragement to this group. I believe it’s a fantastic ministry and one which will continue to grow and develop as time move on. FINALLY With the fast approach of the end of school, end of work, the holidays and so on, our lives are being stretched in more directions than usual, so I would like to greatly thank all those who have been involved in spite of the business of this time of year. So a special thanks to all those involved, including leaders, assistants, helpers and parents. You have all contributed to make each of these programs a success. As a final-final note: To anyone who would like to offer their help and talents to any of the above programs, (including The Christmas Production) please contact me on my mobile: 0417 252 778.
Kind regards & God bless.
Robert
